#053 - EARTH

For months now I've been hiding behind Web pages Blog pages and various magazines trying to learn new techniques and workflows from "experts". This has led to me becoming frustrated, annoyed and despondent with my efforts.

Today I came across a web page by Denis Olivier. The simpleness of his photography, relying on the 3 fundamental of a monochrome image, SHAPE TEXTURE and TONAL RANGE sing out from the images. The square formatting also adds a magic that I can't quite put my finger on.

This has lead me to re-evaluate my own work, I'm now going back to basic, forget about the complex work flow on Photoshop and produce images that I'm happy with.

#046 - Pin Hole Pier

In this months issue (no 97) of Digital Photo I came across a tutorial showing how to make a Pinhole camera style image. As the image they were using was very similar to a shot I took I thought I'd give it a go !!

#045 - Old Ropes

I came across this heap of old rope on a recent trip over to the East Coast near Whitby.

Workflow

1. Adjusted the RAW file to give the best spread of the histogram.
2. Desaturated using B/W Conversion.
3. Smoothed and sharpened using Neat Image.
4. Cleaned up the image, cropped then Dodged and Burned in Photoshop.
