#028 - Daily Telegraph Photograph

For the last 4 months, the Saturday Daily Telegraph has been running a series on digital photography. Each week they set a subject and ask the readers to email their photographs in and the lucky one's have their photographs published and critiqued by Charlie Hopkinson. Two weeks ago they they ran an article about landscapes and in particular the style of Ansel Adams. I decided to have a go with a couple of my photographs and was fortunate to have my view of Castlerig selected and critiqued.

Mr. H. seemed to like the photograph and wrote the following :-

Terrific. I love this shot on so many levels. Black and white - it’s perfect for the subject. Exposure is spot on. It’s in portrait orientation, and the eye goes from foreground up to the great sky in one easy movement.

There are no irritating distractions in the frame. It’s punchy, graphic, strong, interesting, and well composed. And the weather; surely evidence enough to avoid sunny days and get going when the weather gets going too. Thank you for sharing this great photograph.

Thanks Charlie, it's not every day you have a photograph in the Telegraph and have a critique from a professional photographer.

It's just a pity that the aspect ratio was altered to make my original Portrait orientation into a landscape format giving the image a squashed appearance, but you can't have every thing ;0))
