#053 - EARTH

For months now I've been hiding behind Web pages Blog pages and various magazines trying to learn new techniques and workflows from "experts". This has led to me becoming frustrated, annoyed and despondent with my efforts.

Today I came across a web page by Denis Olivier. The simpleness of his photography, relying on the 3 fundamental of a monochrome image, SHAPE TEXTURE and TONAL RANGE sing out from the images. The square formatting also adds a magic that I can't quite put my finger on.

This has lead me to re-evaluate my own work, I'm now going back to basic, forget about the complex work flow on Photoshop and produce images that I'm happy with.

I found this old ferry boat close by to a cottage we stopped at in Scotland.

I took this image last summer during a holiday in Scotland. I've been "playing" with it for a while now and finally I'm happy with the result !!
