#012 - Buckshaw Man

The Buckshaw Man or Green Man as it was originally called was erected in February 2005 and commissioned by Barratt and Redrow Homes to as a a "guardian" to the new village of Buckshaw on the old BAE SYSTEMS site at Euxton near Chorley Lancashire.
The Green Man will act as a framework for ivy, clematis, honeysuckle and Virginia creeper. The first plants were planted this spring. The sculpture has an armspan of nearly 11m (36ft), and weighs 4 tons. It has been fabricated in tubular steel and clad in specially prepared fibreglass, to give the planting a surface to cling onto.
The sculpture was designed by Colin Spofforth of Brimstone Artworks
